Visiting Berlin with children; things to do

Berlin is a remarkable city, that has built up from a troubled past into a city of acceptance and art. Perhaps it has always been on your bucket list, but you aren’t sure whether the children will enjoy it? Don’t worry! The German capital offers up so much to do for all ages, and you will find plenty of ways to entertain young children on your trip. Take a look at some of the family friendly attractions on offer.

1. Berlin Zoo

Home to the world’s largest number of species, this huge zoo is truly magnificent. Set amongst beautiful gardens, you’ll stroll through wonderful nature while discovering many marvelous creatures. There’s so much to learn, for a day out that is as educational as it is fun. Children and adults will be in awe of the elephants, lions and wolves and can get up close and personal with pygmy goats in the petting zoo. There is also an aquarium on site, plus shows, talks and observations available throughout the day.

2. Tiergarten

With over 600 acres, the Tiergarten is a perfect way to enjoy nature in the heart of the thriving city. There is so much to be explored and discovered, from the paddle boat lake to the many hidden pathways and bridges. Perfect for a sunny day!

3. Legoland at Potsdamer Platz

For a rainy day alternative, how about this amazing attraction? Potsdamer Platz is impressive in itself, with amazing architecture and plenty to see and do. Legoland, the indoor theme park, is perfect for children. You’ll discover a miniature Berlin, built with 1.5 million Lego bricks, as well as rides and games to be enjoyed by all.

4. Museum Island

Berlin’s very own Museum Island is home to many museums and galleries that explore Germany’s past and present, with an emphasis on history and art. Children and adults will come away having learned something new, and museums are always a great way to learn more about the country and city you’ve visited.
