Finland’s Flow Festival
From a tiny club event to a 75,000-stong party, Flow Festival in Finland has come a long way in 10 years! This festival is in fact held around a power plant in Helsinki and for is transformed for a few nights in August into a fabulously vibrant and illuminated festival celebrating music and the visual arts. From acts like London Grammar and Frank Ocean taking to its stages this year, anyone looking to come to Flow Fest is sure to see some popular and high profile acts.
Croatia’s Outlook Festival
Some of you may have heard that Croatia is fast becoming the Ibiza of the Dalmatian Coast and may be surprised to hear that the rumours are true- Croatia is one of the most up and coming festival destinations in the world at the moment. If dubstep and raving is your thing, then Outlook is the festival of choice for you, with the festival’s headliners including Bugzy Malone and Wiley. The festival is also held in an abandoned fort which means you can expect a unique vibe and some seriously stunning sunsets to boot!
Spain’s UVA Festival
You may already be familiar with Spain’s well known Primavera Sound festival or Sonar, but this year we want to feature the newest member on the festival scene in Spain – the UVA festival. It is held in the stunning 12th century monastery grounds on the cliffs of Ronda and offers incredible views of the land beyond. The event is small scale and exclusive, with a 500 person capacity at the most, which makes it one of the most interesting festivals in our line-up. If you’re a fan of low-key, psychedelic sounds, then check out this June festival.
The Netherland’s Lowlands Festival
An online music magazine has this to say of the popular Lowlands festival in 2016, “the atmosphere is spot on: no lads, no kids, no trouble, no problem” and if that doesn’t sound inviting in itself then we don’t know what does! This festival has been going strong for 25 years and, combined with its relaxed recreational drugs policy, makes it a popular choice with many looking to come together for a celebration of music, film, performance, music and art. This festival is held in June and features headliners including The xx, Iggy Pop and Alt-J.
When visiting a foreign country it is imperative that you stay safe and prepare for any eventuality. Regardless of where you decide to let your hair down this year in Europe, make sure you always carry the most vital pieces of documentation when you travel (after your passport) – your EHIC card and comprehensive travel insurance.
